Our Body, a Temple

"Don't you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself" 1 Corinthians 6:19

When we're first pregnant we are in awe of the work going on in our bodies. It's easy to believe that we're not just an incubator, but that we're a temple. But as the feet swell, and disappear, sleepless nights become commonplace, and more time is spent with your arms around the toilet than your husband, it's easy to lose sight of this. It's also easy to feel like you staring in the latest alien movie. I promise you will not have anything come flying out of your chest.

The whole of pregnancy is a challenge and a joy, but where we keep our focus makes all the difference. We can spend so much time focusing on how sick we are, or how tired we are that we miss the blessing of pregnancy. We are the ones that get to carry a new life into the world.

We are a temple whether we feel like it or not. We have to treat ourselves as a temple too. I don't mean a trip to the spa every weekend, but a little exercise and eating well is good not just for you, but the gift growing inside of you.

This weeks actions:

Commit to memorizing 1 Corinthians 6:19 and pray that God would show you how to create a temple that honors Him.

Look for all of the amazing things happening in your pregnancy right now, write them down. Look at them when you're feeling more like a hunk of rubble than the temple the word says we are.

Dig Deeper!

Read about the temple of God in the Old Testament and spend some time praising God that he has made his home in you!

Blessings,

Joy
